Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Actuarial Analyst for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will work on challenging actuarial projects for pricing, reserving, and financial projections of life insurance products, contributing to profitability analyses and regulatory reporting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Actuarial Science and is progressing through actuarial exams, with at least 4 years of life insurance experience and strong skills in Prophet/AXIS, Excel, and programming

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
• Progress towards actuarial qualifications (exams passed with a recognized actuarial society).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in an actuarial role within the life insurance industry.
• Proficiency in actuarial modeling software (Prophet/AXIS) and advanced Excel.
• Strong programming skills in R/Python/VBA are highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Effective communication with non-actuaries and remote work capability.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and financial projections.
• Perform experience analyses (morbidity, mortality, lapse) to inform pricing assumptions.
• Assist in development and pricing of life insurance products, including profitability analysis.
• Review financial results and provide actuarial input for reporting.
• Collaborate with underwriting, product development, and finance for insights.
• Support regulatory reporting with actuarial data and reports.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of actuarial processes and systems.
