Job summary

Greys Recruitment seeks a regional HR leader to drive people strategy across South Africa and neighbouring markets. You will partner with senior leaders, manage end-to-end HR processes, and oversee employee relations, payroll, and compliance across several sites.

The role requires CA/HR degree, strong union and CCMA experience, and proven capability to lead change in a matrix environment. Travel to regional sites is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level HR degree or equivalent in related field.
  • Strong background in senior HR management or HRBP roles.
  • Extensive South African labour and employee relations experience.
  • Proven engagement with unions and organised labour.
  • Experience with Dayforce HRIS is advantageous.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and implement the regional people strategy across South Africa and neighbouring countries.
  • Provide strategic HR business partnering to senior leadership and management.
  • Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, talent management and retention.
  • Lead employee relations, disciplinary matters, grievances, investigations and labour disputes.
  • Manage relationships with organised labour, unions, bargaining councils and external labour stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance on labour legislation, compliance and HR governance.
  • Oversee payroll, remuneration, benefits, leave and related HR reporting.
  • Lead workforce planning, organisational design, restructuring and change initiatives.
  • Drive training and development initiatives, including WSP/ATR and SETA-related requirements.
  • Manage HR reporting, analytics, Employment Equity and compliance requirements.
  • Lead and develop the HR team while managing the HR departmental budget.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to identify people-related risks and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Travel to regional sites as required.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in a senior HR management or HR business partnering role.
  • Strong South African labour and employee relations experience.
  • Proven experience with CCMA, disciplinary processes, grievances and complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience engaging with trade unions and organised labour.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll, remuneration and benefits.
  • Experience in a multi-site or regional environment.
  • Exposure to HR operations across South Africa, Namibia and/or Mozambique will be highly advantageous.
  • Experience in organisational design, restructuring and change management.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a matrixed and commercially driven environment.
  • Experience with HRIS systems; Dayforce exposure would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel to regional sites when required.
