Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Economic Development Officer for Mahikeng, North West to identify opportunities, attract investment, and support local businesses and SMEs. The role requires collaboration with government entities and community stakeholders to drive job creation and sustainable growth.

You will analyze economic trends, develop strategies, and manage development projects while representing the region to attract investment and tourism.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, or a related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in economic development, business consulting, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of economic development principles, policy, and practice.
• Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, networking, and relationship management.
• Excellent analytical, research, and report writing skills.
• Familiarity with the economic landscape of the North West province.
• Ability to develop and manage projects effectively.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software and data analysis tools.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Mahikeng area and surrounding regions.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze economic development opportunities within Mahikeng and the broader North West province.
• Develop and implement strategies to attract investment and support growth of businesses.
• Provide business advisory services and support to entrepreneurs and SMEs.
• Facilitate networking events and linkages between businesses, investors, and government agencies.
• Conduct market research and feasibility studies for potential projects.
