Placements24 is seeking an Economic Development Officer to drive local growth in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will design and implement initiatives that stimulate business activity, create jobs, and strengthen partnerships with government, industry, and community organisations.

You should have a strong grasp of local economic drivers, proven project management experience, and a passion for community development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
• Master's degree is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years in economic development or related field, preferably Western Cape.
• Proven track record in project management and program implementation.
• Strong understanding of economic principles, market analysis, and business development strategies.
• Excellent networking, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship building.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans to promote economic development in Mossel Bay.
• Identify and attract new businesses and investment opportunities to the region.
• Support existing local businesses through mentorship programs, access to resources, and networking opportunities.
• Facilitate the creation of job opportunities through various initiatives and partnerships.
• Conduct economic research and analysis to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities.
• Manage projects related to economic development, ensuring timely and successful completion.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local government, business leaders, and community stakeholders.
• Organize and promote economic development events, workshops, and forums.
• Seek funding opportunities and manage budgets for economic development initiatives.
• Develop marketing materials and campaigns to promote Mossel Bay as an attractive location for investment and business.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of economic development programs and report on progress.
