Responsibilities

• Monitor KPIs like on-time delivery, accuracy, turnover, and costs; take corrective actions.
• Collaborate with procurement, sales, customer service and carriers to ensure flow of goods.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Regional Distribution Manager to oversee and optimize the logistics and warehousing operations across their South African distribution network. This key management position, situated in the bustling industrial area of Tembisa, Gauteng , requires a strategic thinker with a proven ability to manage large-scale operations, drive efficiency, and ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple distribution centers, leading a significant operational team, and implementing best-practice logistics strategies. This is a hands‑on role that demands strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a deep understanding of the challenges inherent in managing complex supply chains within the South African context. The candidate will play a critical role in maintaining our client's reputation for reliability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of regional distribution center operations, including receiving, warehousing, inventory control, order picking, packing, and shipping.
• Develop and implement operational plans and budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control within the distribution network.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of warehouse supervisors, coordinators, and operational staff to achieve performance targets and foster a positive work environment.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for distribution operations, such as on‑time delivery, order accuracy, inventory turnover, and operational costs, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., procurement, sales, customer service) and external partners (e.g., transportation carriers) to ensure seamless flow of goods and information.
• Implement and enforce health, safety, and security protocols within all distribution facilities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and technological advancements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
• Manage vendor relationships for warehouse supplies, equipment, and services, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in distribution management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proven experience managing large, complex distribution centers and multiple teams.
• Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control principles, and logistics best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control operational costs.
• Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office Suite and WMS platforms.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a warehouse environment.
• Must be authorized to work in South Africa .
