The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 8+ years in distribution, with strong leadership and data-driven decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute regional distribution strategies to improve efficiency and service quality from the Tembisa hub.
• Oversee warehouse operations, inventory control, and order fulfillment with accurate stock levels.
• Manage fleet operations, maintenance, driver scheduling, and route planning to minimize transit times.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for the regional distribution network, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and service quality from the Tembisa hub.
• Manage all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory control, stock management, and order fulfillment, ensuring optimal stock levels and accuracy.
• Oversee fleet management, including vehicle maintenance, driver scheduling, and route planning to ensure timely deliveries and minimize transit times.
• Implement and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for distribution and warehouse operations, reporting on performance and identifying areas for improvement.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations within the distribution centers and during transit, fostering a safety-first culture.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of distribution supervisors, warehouse staff, and drivers, promoting professional growth and high performance.
• Collaborate closely with sales, procurement, and customer service departments to ensure alignment and meet business objectives.
• Manage the distribution budget, controlling expenditures and identifying opportunities for cost savings within the Gauteng region.
• Utilize technology and data analytics to optimize delivery routes, improve warehouse efficiency, and enhance overall supply chain visibility.
• Respond effectively to operational challenges and customer feedback, implementing corrective actions to maintain service excellence.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a relevant field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in distribution and logistics management, with a strong focus on FMCG or similar fast-moving industries.
• Proven experience managing a significant distribution network and large operational teams, preferably within the Tembisa or surrounding areas.
• In-depth knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management systems, fleet management, and route optimization software.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control within a logistics context.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and implement data-driven solutions.
• Proficiency in using relevant software, including ERP systems and advanced Excel.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region as needed.
