Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Management Consultant to drive regional development in Upington, Northern Cape. You will partner with local government, businesses and communities to foster growth, improve infrastructure and enhance quality of life in the region.

The role focuses on identifying opportunities, formulating strategic plans and supporting project implementation with a sustainable development mindset. A strong analytical background and collaboration across diverse groups are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Development Studies, Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience in regional development or economic consulting.
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in regional contexts.
• Experience working with government, private sector and community groups.
• Familiarity with Northern Cape context is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze regional economic conditions to identify opportunities and threats.
• Develop strategic frameworks and action plans for regional development.
• Prioritize development projects with stakeholders (infrastructure, tourism, agriculture).
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and build cross-group consensus.
• Assess feasibility and impact of proposed initiatives.
• Support funding and grants applications for regional projects.
• Monitor progress and evaluate impact of interventions.
• Advise authorities and businesses on policy and strategy for regional growth.
