Astron Energy (Pty) Ltd. Milnerton refinery is seeking a Technical Manager to lead the Technical Department, overseeing process engineering, safety, design, FEI, laboratory and control systems.

The role sets technical strategy for the Operations Business Unit and ensures asset integrity, reliability and profitability within safe operating envelopes. Key responsibilities include driving process optimisation, managing technology partnerships, and steering capital projects through stages gates,

Qualifications

• BSc in Engineering (Chemical/Process) or equivalent required.
• 10–15 years in manufacturing/refinery environment with strong technical leadership.
• Experience with refinery process technical support, process design and asset integrity management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to Process Support, Process Safety, Design, FEI, Laboratory and Control Systems.
• Drive refinery profitability and operational stability through strategic technical goals.
• Oversee Fixed Equipment Integrity (FEI) monitoring and regulatory-compliant programs.
• Lead capital projects through PPC stage gates and FEED/engineering interfaces.
