Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a vigilant Cybersecurity Threat Analyst to join our client's security operations center in Queenstown. You will monitor threat feeds, analyze alerts, and contribute to rapid containment and response to emerging threats.

The ideal candidate has a degree in cybersecurity or related field, 3+ years in threat intelligence or SOC roles, and hands-on experience with SIEM/EDR, malware analysis, and scripting (Python/SQL).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity analysis, threat intelligence, or security operations.
• Proficiency with threat actor TTPs, malware analysis, and forensic techniques.
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, and threat intelligence platforms.
• Scripting for automation and data analysis (Python, SQL).
• Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
• Certifications such as GCTI or CySA+ are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze threat intelligence feeds to identify threats and vulnerabilities.
• Conduct deep-dive investigations into security alerts and incidents to assess scope and impact.
• Develop and maintain threat detection rules and signatures for security tools.
• Perform malware analysis and reverse engineering to understand TTPs.
• Produce threat landscape reports and provide actionable intelligence to security teams.
• Collaborate with incident response teams to contain and eradicate threats.
• Stay current with emerging threats and defensive security measures.
