Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous and analytical Quantity Surveyor to join our team on building projects in Port Elizabeth. You will manage costs from inception to completion, including estimation, budgeting, contract administration and value engineering.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics, at least 5 years’ experience, and proficiency with CostX, WinQS and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the building construction industry.
• Proficiency in CostX, WinQS and MS Office.
• Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry pricing.
• Knowledge of contract law and FIDIC or JBCC contract forms.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for building projects.
• Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenditures and forecasting final costs.
• Administer construction contracts, including managing variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and verify valuations for payment applications.
• Advise clients and project teams on cost-effective solutions and value engineering opportunities.
