Job summary

Placements24 invites a meticulous and analytical Quantity Surveyor to join our Welkom office in the Free State. You will prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities, administer contracts, monitor costs, and coordinate with project teams to ensure cost-effective delivery of building and infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management, SACQSP is advantageous, at least five years of experience, and solid knowledge of SMM2, JBCC and FIDIC

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
• Professional accreditation (SACQSP) is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
• Proficiency in measurement standards (e.g., SMM2) and relevant software.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JBCC, FIDIC).

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities for tender and project purposes.
• Administer construction contracts, including managing variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs throughout the construction phase, reporting on budget performance and forecasting final costs.
• Procure and manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and contract compliance.
• Conduct site visits to assess progress, measure work executed, and verify interim payments.
• Provide expert advice on cost-saving measures and value engineering options.
