Placements24 in Durban seeks a meticulous and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to manage construction costs from inception to completion, ensuring projects stay on budget while maximizing value.

You will handle cost estimation, contract administration, and financial reporting across a portfolio of diverse construction projects, contributing to KwaZulu-Natal’s developments and professional project delivery.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• Registration with SACQSP is advantageous.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects.
• Manage tender processes, evaluate contractor bids and negotiate contracts.
• Administer construction contracts, including payments, variations and claims.
• Monitor project costs, track expenditure and prepare financial reports.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with projects.
• Conduct site visits to verify work and assess progress against the contract.

About the Role

Our client seeks a meticulous and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team in Durban . This role is crucial for managing construction costs from inception to completion, ensuring projects remain within budget while maximizing value. You will be responsible for cost estimation, contract administration, and financial reporting across a portfolio of diverse construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled QS to play a pivotal role in the financial success of significant developments in KwaZulu-Natal, contributing to a professional and collaborative project delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects.
• Manage tender processes, including the evaluation of contractor bids and negotiation of contracts.
• Administer construction contracts, including processing interim and final payments, variations, and claims.
• Monitor project costs, track expenditure, and prepare regular financial reports for stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with construction projects.
• Conduct site visits to verify work done and assess progress against the contract.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• Professional registration with the SACQSP is advantageous.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of contract law, FIDIC, and other standard forms of contract.
• Proficiency in cost estimating software and MS Excel.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
