About the Role

Our client, a respected manufacturing leader based in the vibrant coastal city of Durban , is looking to appoint an experienced and meticulous Quality Control Manager. This pivotal role is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive quality management systems across all production lines to ensure the delivery of superior products that meet and exceed customer expectations. The successful candidate will lead the quality assurance team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure adherence to national and international quality standards. This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of quality principles and a passion for excellence within the Durban manufacturing community. The role will adopt a hybrid working model, blending essential on-site quality oversight with flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's quality management system (QMS).
• Oversee all quality control activities, including raw material inspection, in-process checks, and final product testing.
• Lead and mentor the quality assurance team, providing guidance and performance management.
• Analyze quality data, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct internal audits and facilitate external audits by certification bodies and customers.
• Manage customer complaints related to product quality and drive resolutions.
• Collaborate with production and R&D teams to improve product quality and manufacturing processes.
• Stay abreast of new quality control technologies and best practices.
• Promote a strong quality culture throughout the organization in Durban .

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing ISO 9001 certified QMS.
• Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
