Job summary

South African National Blood Service seeks a QC Specialist Clinical Pathology to oversee testing and authorise release of results across Haematology, Chemistry, Microbiology and QC materials. This role also supports the Head of QC in their absence with complex technical tasks.

The successful candidate will perform calibration, validation of materials, participate in internal audits and ensure quality control across operations within the Mount Edgecombe unit.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Biomedical Technology.
• Registered Medical Technologist in Clinical Pathology.
• Registration with a professional body HPCSA.

Responsibilities

• Perform QC analyses on blood products and clinical specimens per SOP with timely turnaround.
• Enter and verify results in Meditech; print reports and sign off.
• Schedule maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments.
• Assist in internal audits and quality control of incoming goods.
• Maintain documentation and non-conformances; support CPD compliance.
