Placements24 is seeking a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to oversee operations at its Klerksdorp facility. You will lead a team across hematology, chemistry, microbiology and immunology, ensuring accuracy and timely results while maintaining QA/QC standards.

The role is hands-on with direct supervision, requiring strong leadership, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with healthcare staff to meet diagnostic needs and improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Master's degree or higher preferred.
• Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with HPCSA.
• 8+ years in a clinical diagnostic lab with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience across hematology, chemistry, microbiology and immunology.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and mentor medical laboratory scientists, technicians, and assistants.
• Perform a full range of complex laboratory tests across disciplines.
• Ensure accuracy, reliability and timeliness of results.
• Implement QA/QC programs and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Monitor workflows and drive process improvements for efficiency.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to address diagnostic needs.
• Evaluate and implement new laboratory technologies.
