Job summary

Prommac in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Project Planner to manage integrated construction schedules across complex industrial projects, with emphasis on piping fabrication, mechanical equipment installation and structural steel erection.

Qualifications

Job description

Prommac is seeking an experienced Project Planner in Cape Town to manage integrated construction schedules and support safe, coordinated delivery across complex industrial project environments.

The Project Planner will be responsible for developing, maintaining and monitoring integrated construction schedules across multiple disciplines. The role will focus particularly on piping fabrication and installation, mechanical equipment installation and structural steel erection within demanding industrial project environments.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, construction supervisors, engineering teams and other project stakeholders. The objective is to ensure that construction activities remain aligned with approved milestones, contractual requirements, site priorities and overall project delivery objectives.

A key part of the role is maintaining schedule integrity throughout the project lifecycle. This includes gathering accurate progress information, updating schedules, identifying potential delays and providing clear analysis that enables project teams to respond appropriately. The Project Planner will also prepare short-term look-ahead schedules that give site teams practical visibility of upcoming activities, interfaces and priorities.

Candidates must bring at least eight years of construction planning experience, with relevant exposure to petrochemical, oil & gas or heavy industrial environments. Experience in live operating plants is important, as is an understanding of the different planning considerations associated with both greenfield and brownfield projects.

The position requires strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and proficiency in Microsoft Project. Practical experience with NEC contract frameworks is also required, enabling the planner to understand how programme information, milestones and schedule performance interact with contractual obligations.

The position is based in Cape Town, and applicants must already be Cape Town-based. Travel to project sites across South Africa will be required depending on operational and project needs. The successful candidate will also be required to pass a criminal check as part of the recruitment process.
