Placements24 is seeking a Project Manager to oversee renewable energy initiatives across the Western Cape, with a focus on the George region. You will manage site assessments, permitting, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning, coordinating diverse teams and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget. Travel to project sites in the Western Cape is expected as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and grid connection requirements.

About the Role

Our client, a leader in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee the development and implementation of solar and wind energy projects across the Western Cape, with a strong focus on the George region. This role requires a proactive individual with experience in managing complex energy projects from inception to commissioning. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical understanding, excellent project management skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including landowners, government agencies, and construction partners. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of renewable energy projects, including site assessment, permitting, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Lead and coordinate project teams, including engineers, environmental consultants, legal advisors, and construction contractors.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, safety standards, and grid connection requirements.
• Manage project finances, including budget control, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Facilitate effective communication and stakeholder engagement with local communities, government bodies, and investors in George .
• Oversee contract negotiations and administration with suppliers and service providers.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement timely corrective actions.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet performance specifications.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and best practices within the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Project Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of project management experience, with a significant focus on renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Proven track record of successfully delivering renewable energy projects on time and within budget.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks in South Africa.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project and familiarity with relevant technical software.
• Experience in managing project budgets up to R40 million.
• Ability to identify and mitigate project risks effectively.
• A valid driver's license is required, with willingness to travel to project sites across the Western Cape .
• Professional certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are advantageous.
