Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects around Upington, Northern Cape. You will oversee feasibility, site acquisition, EPC management, and handover, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires an Electrical/Mechanical/Civil engineering degree, 8+ years in project management including renewables, and familiarity with PMP/PRINCE2, MS Project or Primavera P6.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years of project management experience, 5+ years in renewables.
• Experience managing budgets > R100 million.
• Knowledge of solar and wind technologies.
• Familiarity with PMP or PRINCE2 and scheduling tools (MS Project/Primavera P6).
• Strong contract negotiation and leadership abilities.
• Excellent English; Afrikaans is a plus.
• Willingness to travel and work from Upington hub.

About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee the development and implementation of major renewable energy infrastructure projects in and around Upington, Northern Cape . This role is critical to expanding clean energy solutions in a region well-suited for solar and wind power generation. You will be responsible for managing all phases of project execution, from feasibility studies and site acquisition to construction, commissioning, and handover. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end management of large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar farms and wind energy facilities.
• Develop detailed project plans, encompassing scope definition, risk assessment, resource allocation, scheduling, and budget management.
• Oversee site selection, permitting, and environmental impact assessments.
• Manage EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractors, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Control project costs, monitor financial performance, and optimize resource utilization.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, investors, and technical partners.
• Conduct rigorous site inspections and quality assurance checks during the construction phase.
• Facilitate effective communication and reporting, providing regular updates to senior management and project stakeholders.
• Resolve complex project issues and challenges proactively and efficiently.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Project Management, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 8 years of proven experience in project management, with at least 5 years focused on renewable energy infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated success in managing projects with budgets exceeding R100 million.
• In-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, particularly solar and wind.
• Expertise in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Strong contract negotiation and management skills.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in risk management and mitigation strategies.
• Must be willing to work full-time from our operational hub in Upington, Northern Cape , requiring regular site visits.
• Excellent communication skills in English; fluency in Afrikaans is an advantage.
