Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead renewable energy projects from conception to completion in East London, South Africa. This on-site role requires strong leadership, budget control, and stakeholder coordination across solar, wind and other deployments.

You will drive schedules, allocate resources, and ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance while guiding multidisciplinary teams through project lifecycle stages.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as Project Manager in renewable energy or related sector.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; Master's preferred.
• Proven experience with PMI or PRINCE2 methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of renewable energy projects from planning through closure.
• Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules and budgets.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and maintain accountability across stakeholders.
• Manage client, contractor and regulatory relationships to ensure delivery.
• Ensure on-site projects meet quality, safety and environmental standards.
• Identify risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead renewable energy projects from conception through to completion, based in East London . This role requires comprehensive oversight of project timelines, budgets, resources, and stakeholder management to ensure successful delivery of solar, wind, or other renewable energy installations. You will be instrumental in driving the transition to sustainable energy solutions, managing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring projects meet quality, safety, and environmental standards. This is a critical on-site role for a proven leader in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of renewable energy projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Lead and motivate project teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and implement effective problem-solving strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Project Manager in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, hydro).
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with contract management, procurement, and supply chain logistics.
• Ability to manage complex projects on-site in East London .
