Placements24 is looking for an accomplished Project Manager to lead large energy infrastructure projects in the Centurion, Gauteng region. The role combines remote management with on-site involvement for milestone events, in a hybrid work model that supports efficient coordination and strong team leadership.

You will oversee feasibility, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, construction, commissioning, and handover, driving delivery on time and within budget while ensuring safety and environmental

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Master’s degree or PMP certification preferred.
• 7+ years of project management experience in energy/infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of energy infrastructure projects from planning to handover.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent developer in the renewable energy sector , is seeking an accomplished Project Manager to lead significant infrastructure projects in the Centurion, Gauteng region. This role demands a strategic thinker with a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale energy projects on time and within budget. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of projects, from initial feasibility studies and stakeholder engagement through to construction, commissioning, and handover. This hybrid position requires a proactive approach, combining effective remote management with essential on-site presence for critical project milestones and team coordination. You will be instrumental in driving the expansion of clean energy solutions across South Africa, working with a passionate and experienced team.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of energy infrastructure projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
• Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
• Identify, assess, and manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Lead and motivate project teams, including engineers, contractors, and consultants.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout project lifecycles.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including government agencies, community leaders, and investors.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and service providers.
• Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and key stakeholders.
• Facilitate project meetings, ensuring clear communication and decision-making.
• Drive continuous improvement in project management methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• A Master’s degree or PMP certification is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, specifically within the energy or infrastructure development sectors.
• Demonstrated success in managing projects with budgets exceeding R100 million.
• Strong understanding of project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in risk management, contract negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience with renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro) is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing remote work with necessary site visits in and around Centurion, Gauteng.
• Must be results-oriented and possess strong decision-making capabilities.
