• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is desirable.
• Strong understanding of project finance, contract management, and regulatory frameworks in energy.

About the Role

Our client, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to oversee the development and implementation of critical renewable energy infrastructure projects. This role is vital for advancing our client's mission to expand sustainable energy solutions across South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in managing complex engineering and construction projects, ideally within the solar, wind, or related energy fields. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from site assessment and feasibility studies to design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. This position requires strong leadership, technical acumen, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including engineering teams, contractors, regulatory bodies, and community representatives. The role is based in Upington, Northern Cape , a region significant for its renewable energy potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of renewable energy infrastructure projects.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, defining scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
• Manage project teams, including engineers, contractors, and consultants, ensuring effective collaboration and performance.
• Oversee the procurement of equipment, materials, and services necessary for project execution.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Manage project finances, tracking expenditures, controlling costs, and ensuring projects are completed within budget.
• Facilitate communication and stakeholder engagement with internal teams, external partners, and local communities.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities and obtain necessary permits and approvals.
• Oversee the commissioning and handover of completed projects, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or a related technical discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of project management experience, with a significant focus on renewable energy or infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects related to solar farms, wind turbines, or other large-scale energy infrastructure.
• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of project finance, contract management, and regulatory frameworks in the energy sector.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and experience with technical drawings.
• Ability to manage complex logistical challenges and site operations.
• Commitment to sustainable practices and a passion for renewable energy.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
