Job summary

A leading engineering firm seeks a high-impact Project Director in Stellenbosch to lead a major Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage project. This role oversees project strategy, delivery, and stakeholder management while guiding multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety, profitability, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience in large EPC projects, strong NEC contract management skills, and an engineering degree. South African residents or those with relevant work permits are preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years managing large EPC or renewable-energy projects (20 MW+ ideal).
• Strong experience with NEC contracts and claims management.
• Proven financial, commercial, and risk management capability.

We’re looking for a high-impact Project Director to lead a major Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage project powering critical infrastructure. This role owns the full project lifecycle — strategy, delivery, budget, risk, and stakeholder management — while guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver safely, profitably, and on schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead project strategy, governance, and high-level decision-making
• Manage full P&L, forecasting, commercial risk, and NEC contract processes
• Oversee engineering, design integration, and all EPC interfaces
• Drive safety, quality, and environmental excellence
• Build and motivate a high-performing project team
• Act as the executive point of contact for the client, funders, and regulators
• Resolve risks early and keep delivery on track using data-driven tools

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 10+ years managing large EPC or renewable-energy projects (20 MW+ ideal)
• Strong NEC contract and claims-management experience
• Proven financial, commercial, and risk-management capability
• Expert stakeholder and team-leadership skills

Qualification:

• Engineering degree (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil/Industrial)
• Postgrad in Project Management/Business preferred
• Professionally Registered
