Placements24 is seeking an experienced Project Chemical Engineer to lead capital projects in Richards Bay. You will drive projects from concept through commissioning, coordinating cross-disciplinary teams and ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering; PE registration is a plus.
• 5–8 years of experience in project engineering in chemical/ process industry.
• Proven track record of managing complex industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of chemical engineering projects from scope to commissioning.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an accomplished Project Chemical Engineer to lead and manage key capital projects within their facilities in Richards Bay . This role requires a blend of technical expertise in chemical engineering and strong project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be involved from the initial concept through to commissioning and handover, working with diverse teams and stakeholders. This is a challenging yet rewarding position for an engineer keen on driving significant improvements and new developments in a major industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of chemical engineering projects, from scope definition to final commissioning.
• Develop project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project milestones are met.
• Oversee the design, procurement, construction, and installation of new process equipment and facilities.
• Ensure all projects comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project team members.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline; Professional Engineer registration is a plus.
• 5-8 years of experience in project engineering, preferably within the chemical or process industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex industrial projects.
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with process design, P&IDs, and HAZOP studies.
