Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years in project engineering or project management in the chemical industry.
• Proven experience delivering projects from concept to completion within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, PM methodologies, and construction practices.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of capital projects from scope to close-out.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and organized Project Engineer to manage and execute capital projects within their chemical operations in Sandton . This role is responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and timeline requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and suppliers to bring complex chemical engineering projects to successful fruition. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to lead significant initiatives while maintaining a flexible work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of capital projects, including scope definition, planning, design, procurement, execution, and close-out.
• Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, operations, and safety departments, as well as external contractors and vendors.
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
• Prepare regular project status reports for senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5-8 years of experience in project engineering or project management, preferably within the chemical industry.
• Proven experience managing projects from concept to completion, including scope, budget, and schedule control.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, project management methodologies , and construction practices.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with relevant software for project management and design (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD).
