Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Chemical Engineer to drive process engineering initiatives in Richards Bay. The role combines on-site leadership with remote collaboration to ensure safe, efficient and profitable manufacturing operations.

You will mentor engineers, lead major capital projects, optimize existing processes and implement advanced control strategies. A strong track record in process safety, P&ID development and project leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in the chemical industry with strong process design and project leadership.
• Expertise in process simulation, P&ID development and process safety management (PSM).
• Strong leadership, communication and team management skills.
• Ability to balance on-site responsibilities with remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, engineering and commissioning of major capital projects related to chemical process improvements and expansions.
• Oversee optimization of existing plant processes to enhance performance and reduce operating costs.
• Develop and implement advanced process control strategies and P&ID updates.
• Conduct rigorous process safety assessments, including HAZOP studies, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level chemical engineers, fostering technical excellence.
