You will maintain detailed logs and provide excellent service to clients. The ideal candidate holds a Code 3 license, has experience with heavy-duty vehicles, and can work flexible hours including weekends.

Qualifications

• Valid South African Code 3 driver’s license.
• Proven experience operating heavy-duty vehicles.
• Excellent knowledge of Gauteng road networks and traffic laws.
• Able to perform physical tasks including loading/unloading.
• Must be physically fit and able to pass a medical examination.
• Provide previous employer references.

Responsibilities

• Operate a heavy-duty vehicle safely and efficiently per traffic laws and company protocols.
• Transport goods from distribution centre to customer locations and inter-depot transfers.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Load/unload cargo and secure items to prevent damage.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a heavy-duty vehicle (Code 3 license required) in a safe and efficient manner, adhering strictly to all traffic regulations and company safety protocols.
• Transport goods and materials from the distribution centre to various customer locations and inter-depot transfers as per scheduled routes.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues or defects promptly to the fleet manager.
• Ensure the proper loading and unloading of cargo, securing items to prevent damage during transit.
• Maintain accurate logs of delivery times, mileage, and any incidents encountered during the shift.
• Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally with clients and representing Our client in a positive light.
• Adhere to delivery schedules and deadlines, communicating any potential delays proactively.
• Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained, both internally and externally.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those related to health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Accurately complete all required paperwork, including delivery manifests and inspection reports.

Requirements

• Valid South African Code 3 driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably with experience operating heavy-duty vehicles.
• Excellent knowledge of road networks and traffic laws within Gauteng and surrounding provinces.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including loading and unloading goods, and working in various weather conditions.
• Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays if required.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and accident-free driving.
• Proof of previous employment or references as a professional driver.Must be physically fit and able to pass a medical examination.
