Job summary

PepsiCo Inc. in Johannesburg is seeking a production supervisor to oversee a group of skilled employees in daily bread production activities, ensuring targets are met and compliance with HACCP, GMP's, health and safety standards.

You will lead production teams, train controllers and some supervisors, coordinate with other departments, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining quality and efficient use of materials.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years managerial experience within the manufacturing / operations environment in FMCG industry.
• HACCP, GMP's, health, safety and hygiene compliance
• Sound understanding and application of safety, health & hygiene in a production environment
• Sound understanding of controlled Food manufacturing production processes
• Experience and exposure to production efficiency in a highly pressurized environment with tight deadlines
• Experience to optimized raw material stock levels in FMCG environment
• Implement new processes and procedures to improve efficiency

Responsibilities

• Planning, coordinating, and supervising daily bread production activities / processes to ensure production targets are achieved.
• Managing and leading production teams to drive performance, productivity, and adherence to operational standards.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, hygiene, and health and safety requirements.
• Monitoring production processes and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime, waste, and product losses.
• Driving continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
• Managing staffing, attendance, training, and performance of employees within the production area including: Time & Attendance, Leave Management, Recruitment and selection, Disciplinary actions, Engagement, Temporary Employees management and cost control
• Ensuring optimal utilization of raw materials, equipment, and labour resources.
• Monitoring stock control processes and implementing preventative measures to minimize stock losses and variances.
• Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless production planning and customer service delivery.
• Supporting and maintaining a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
• Continuous Business Improvement initiatives to improve efficiencies.
• Ensure product quality and reporting of quality inefficiencies or challenges.

Qualifications

• Differentiating Competencies Required
• Completed a Food Technology / Engineering / Production / Operations related Degree / Diploma
• Sound understanding of application of preventative maintenance principles/practicesExperience to optimize people, plant, machinery and equipment

• Experience in structured stock take and cycle counts including backflushing and adhering to BOM's
• Experience in planning staff and materials to achieve production targets as per budget
