About the Role

Our client, a growing force in the mineral processing industry , is seeking a skilled and experienced Process Plant Operator with a specialization in Flotation to join their operations team in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA . This role is fundamental to the efficient and safe operation of the flotation circuit, ensuring the optimal recovery of valuable minerals. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the flotation process, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting operational issues. This hands-on position requires a strong understanding of mineral processing principles, particularly in flotation, and a commitment to operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Operate and control flotation cells and associated equipment to achieve optimal mineral recovery and concentrate grades.
• Monitor process parameters, including reagent dosage, air flow, pulp density, and froth conditions.
• Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on flotation equipment, pumps, and instrumentation.
• Conduct regular sampling and analysis of slurry and concentrate to assess process performance.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain process stability.
• Adhere to strict safety, health, and environmental (SHE) policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate operational logs and records.
• Collaborate with metallurgists and supervisors to optimize reagent schemes and process parameters.
• Assist with the commissioning of new equipment and process improvements.
• Ensure a clean and organised work environment.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Process Plant Operator, with a significant focus on flotation operations within the mining or mineral processing sector .
• Solid understanding of flotation principles, reagent functions, and circuit operation.
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or similar plant control systems is advantageous.
• Ability to perform basic laboratory tests and interpret results.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for performing routine maintenance tasks.
