Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Metallurgist to join our processing plant team in the Richards Bay region. You will optimize mineral recovery through metallurgical processes, analyze process data, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to maximize yield and product quality.

The role involves monitoring crushing, grinding, flotation, and leaching circuits; conducting lab tests; and preparing performance and economic reports.

Qualifications

• BSc or BEng in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral processing, preferably in base metals or precious metals.
• Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and unit operations.
• Experience with process simulation software and statistical analysis.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and controlling all stages of the mineral processing circuit, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and leaching.
• Conducting laboratory test work to evaluate new processing techniques and optimize existing ones.
• Analyzing metallurgical accounting data to track recovery, grade, and plant performance.
