Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Principal Exploration Geoscientist to join a globally distributed team, operating remotely from anywhere within South Africa. This senior role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and advancing new mineral exploration opportunities across commodities and settings.

You will integrate geophysical, geochemical, geological modeling, and remote sensing to target areas, lead programs, mentor junior staff, and help shape the company's exploration strategy

Formación

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, or related Earth Science field.
• A minimum of 10 years in mineral exploration with focus on target generation and project evaluation.
• Demonstrated success in discovering economically significant mineral deposits.
• Expertise interpreting geophysical datasets (magnetic, gravity, EM, seismic) and geochemical data.
• Proficiency with GIS, geological modeling, and geophysical processing software.
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and metallogeny across deposits.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage remote projects.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, or a related Earth Science field.

• Expertise in the interpretation of various geophysical datasets (magnetic, gravity, electromagnetic, seismic) and geochemical data.
• Proficiency with exploration-focused software, including GIS, geological modeling, and geophysical processing packages.
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and metallogeny across different deposit types.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote work environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
• Eligibility for professional accreditation (e.g., Pr.Sci.Nat) is an asset.
