Placements24 is seeking a Principal Chemical Engineer, Process Optimization, to lead optimization efforts in East London, Eastern Cape. This hybrid role combines strategic remote analysis with on-site collaboration to improve yield, safety, and sustainability in our client's chemical manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in chemical engineering, expertise in advanced control, data analytics, and leading cross-functional projects, plus strong leadership and communication

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
• 12+ years of chemical engineering experience with a focus on process optimization.
• Proven track record leading complex optimization projects.
• Expertise in process simulation and data analytics tools (Python, R, MATLAB).
• Experience with DCS/PLC systems is advantageous.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Hybrid work environment with on-site collaboration in East London.

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives for optimizing chemical processes to improve yield, reduce costs, and enhance safety.
• Develop and implement advanced process control strategies and methodologies.
• Utilize data analytics and statistical tools to identify trends and diagnose issues.
• Conduct in-depth process analysis including P&ID reviews and mass/energy balance checks.
• Oversee pilot studies and scale-up activities related to process modifications.
• Mentor junior engineers in process optimization techniques.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and R&D teams for seamless implementations.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to management.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in chemical process optimization.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
