Job summary

Vulcan Recruit is seeking an Engineering Fitting & Assembly Assistant for a precision engineering workshop in Strand / Helderberg, Western Cape. You will assist with the fitting, assembly and finishing of precision-machined aluminium components, using basic hand and engineering tools, while maintaining strict quality and careful handling.

This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone with basic engineering experience, not a senior fitter.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering, machining, fitting or mechanical workshop preferred.
• Basic fitting and assembly experience.
• Comfortable using hand and engineering tools.
• Good attention to detail and practical ability.
• Reliable, hardworking and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Install Helicoils into aluminium components.
• Tap holes before Helicoil installation.
• Check Helicoils and threads are installed correctly.
• Fit bolts and ensure threads engage properly.
• Carry out basic fitting and assembly of aluminium components.
• Use hand and engineering tools safely.
• Deburr and finish components as required.
• Clean components before and after assembly.
• Ensure finished parts are neat, clean and presentable.
• Handle precision-machined components carefully to prevent damage.
• Identify and report damaged or incorrectly fitted components.
• Assist with general fitting and finishing duties in the workshop.
• Maintain a clean and organised workstation.
• Follow workshop quality and health & safety procedures.
