Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Fitter to support our manufacturing operations in Sandton. The role covers assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment to keep machinery running safely and efficiently.

You will read drawings, perform precision fitting, diagnose faults and carry out preventive maintenance with a focus on quality and safety. Trade qualification and ability to work physically demanding workshop tasks are essential; we offer competitive salary

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical trade.
• Trade qualification or certification in mechanical fitting is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills related to mechanical systems.
• Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks in a workshop environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical systems and machinery according to specifications.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Perform precision fitting, aligning, and adjusting mechanical components.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures, performing repairs and replacements.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company standards.
