Job summary

impact.com is hiring for a Shared Services and Infrastructure role in Cape Town. You will craft platform infrastructure abstractions, deploy and operate Kubernetes-based services, and contribute to reliable, scalable systems used by 600+ engineers.

Ideal candidates have solid Java skills, cloud familiarity (GCP preferred), and a collaborative mindset. This role offers flexible working and growth into platform engineering.

Qualifications

• Solid software-engineering fundamentals with Java or similar programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement platform infrastructure abstractions that service teams use to express their requirements.
• Deploy and operate platform-layer infrastructure: VPCs, compute pools, storage, Kubernetes clusters and the networking that connects them.
• Help operate and maintain managed pub/sub messaging systems (e.g. Kafka).
• Consume Cloud Operations’ IaC modules and feed back operational lessons.
• Write production-quality Java code that implements infrastructure abstractions, with security best practices by default.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to design and implement infrastructure solutions.
