Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Plant Mechanical Engineer for our client in Pretoria. You will manage and maintain all mechanical systems, ensuring reliability, efficiency and safety of plant machinery, and drive preventative maintenance programs.

You will work closely with production, maintenance and safety teams to optimize operations and minimize downtime in a busy manufacturing environment, with a focus on CMMS, budgeting and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical qualification.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in plant maintenance and mechanical engineering within manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics and rotating equipment.
• Experience with CMMS software and maintenance budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs for plant machinery.
• Oversee installation, repair and overhaul of mechanical equipment with minimal disruption.
• Conduct regular inspections and implement timely corrective actions.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
• Troubleshoot failures, diagnose root causes and implement solutions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
