Placements24 is seeking a proactive Mechanical Engineer to oversee maintenance and operations at a Soweto facility. You will lead a team of technicians, implement maintenance strategies, and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues to ensure reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of plant maintenance experience.
• Experience leading maintenance teams and programs in heavy industry.
• Solid knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Proficiency with CMMS and maintenance planning.
• Strong analytical and leadership skills; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical technicians and artisans.
• Troubleshoot mechanical failures and operational issues promptly.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and repair of equipment.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance budgets.
• Collaborate with production and engineering to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and performance reports.
