Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Petroleum Geologist with a focus on exploration to join their client in Sandton. The role blends regional studies with prospect generation and evaluation, using integrated geological, geophysical, and geochemical data.

You will collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to inform exploration strategies and decision-making across the life cycle of hydrocarbon ventures in the Oil & Gas sector. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Formación

• Master's or PhD in Geology or related Earth Science field.
• Minimum 6 years in exploration geology within Oil & Gas.
• Proficient with geological software and interpretation tools.
• Strong sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and basin analysis.
• Experience with sequence stratigraphy and seismic interpretation is highly desirable.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Petroleum Geologist with a focus on exploration to join their dynamic team in Sandton . This hybrid role offers an exciting opportunity to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon resources through the integrated analysis of geological, geophysical, and geochemical data. You will play a key role in the exploration lifecycle, from regional studies to prospect generation and evaluation. Collaborating with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams, you will contribute to strategic decision-making and the success of exploration ventures within the Oil & Gas industry . The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker with a passion for uncovering subsurface potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret geological data, including well logs, core samples, and seismic data, to understand subsurface geology.
• Identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon prospects and plays using integrated geological and geophysical methods.
• Develop detailed geological models and maps to guide exploration drilling and development efforts.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to integrate seismic interpretation with geological models.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and prospect evaluations for management and stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of new exploration technologies and methodologies within the Oil & Gas sector .

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or a related Earth Science field.
