Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Petroleum Engineer to join their team in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. You will optimize oil and gas extraction, analyze reservoir performance, and design well completions while ensuring safe operations.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering with 5+ years upstream experience, is proficient in ECLIPSE and PETREL, and demonstrates strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills. Relocation support may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
• Master's degree is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in upstream oil and gas exploration and production.
• Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (ECLIPSE, PETREL) and production analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of well logging, core analysis, and formation evaluation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with project management and cost estimation for E&P projects.

Responsibilities

• Analyze reservoir data to predict production trends and identify optimal extraction methods.
• Design and implement well completion and workover programs to maximize hydrocarbon recovery.
• Monitor production operations, troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions to enhance efficiency and safety.
• Conduct economic evaluations of development projects and production enhancement opportunities.
• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and other engineers to develop integrated field development plans.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and company safety policies throughout the operational lifecycle.
