Job summary

Qualifications

We are seeking a detail-oriented Personal Lines Underwriter to ensurethat all work related to policy administration is done efficiently andtimeously in accordance with company and insurer guidelines. The underwriter takesinstruction form the Portfolio Manager, Portfolio Manager Assistant, Insurerand the client directly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle telephone calls, both incoming and outgoing
  
• Obtain quotes for existing clients with amendments oradditions and new potential clients.
  
• Ensure that premiums are competitive
  
• Do amendments to existing policies
  
• Handle brokers appointments
  
• Send and receive emails
  
• Send policy documents to clients
  
• Correspond with clients with regard to unpaid premiums
  
• Handle cancellation requests and discuss cancellationrequests with portfolio managers

Requirements

M inimum Qualifications/Certifications

Grade 12/ Matric

Relevant qualification in Insurance , Risk Management, Business Administration or related fiield will be advantageous

• Experience working with Multiple insures and broker systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Sound knowledge of personal lines insurance products, including motor, household, all-risk, and personal liability cover
• Strong customer service and relationship management abilities.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
