Job summary

Origin Financial Group in Bellville, South Africa is seeking a detail-oriented Personal Lines Underwriter to ensure policy administration is efficient and aligned with insurer guidelines. You will work under the Portfolio Manager and interact with clients and brokers.

Responsibilities include obtaining quotes, amending policies, handling premium discussions, and mentoring junior staff, while keeping knowledge current on products and regulatory changes to support client retention and risk

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 is required.
• Relevant qualification in Insurance, Risk Management, or Business Administration is advantageous.
• Experience with multiple insurers and broker systems.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming and outgoing telephone calls.
• Obtain quotes for amendments, additions, and new clients.
• Ensure premiums are competitive.
• Process amendments to existing policies.
• Handle brokers appointments.
• Send and receive emails with clients.
• Dispatch policy documents to clients.
• Communicate regarding unpaid premiums.
• Process cancellation requests with Portfolio Managers.
• Mentor junior staff and assist with training and development.
• Ensure policy administration aligns with insurer guidelines.
• Support Portfolio Manager to attract and retain clients.
• Tackle additional tasks/projects as requested by management.
• Maintain knowledge of products and regulatory changes.
