Placements24 is partnering with a leading provider of specialized pediatric home care services in Centurion, Gauteng, to recruit a compassionate Pediatric Home Care Nurse. The role involves one-on-one nursing care for children with complex medical needs in their homes, requiring autonomy and strong clinical skills.

You will work closely with families and a multidisciplinary medical team, develop and adjust care plans, educate families, and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Qualified RN with SANC license and pediatric training.
• Minimum 3 years pediatric nursing experience; 1 year in home care/critical care.
• Experience with ventilators, G-tubes and tracheostomies.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, treatments and therapies as prescribed.
• Monitor vital signs and health status of pediatric patients.
• Provide specialized care such as respiratory support and wound care.
• Educate families on care plans, medications and emergencies.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians and therapists to coordinate care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document care.
• Respond to medical emergencies with appropriate intervention.

About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of specialized pediatric home care services, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Home Care Nurse to join their dedicated team in Centurion, Gauteng, ZA. This critical role involves providing high-quality, one-on-one nursing care to children with complex medical needs within the comfort of their own homes. You will work with a variety of conditions, requiring a broad range of nursing skills and a deep commitment to patient-centred care. The objective is to enhance the quality of life for young patients and offer crucial support to their families. This position requires a significant level of autonomy, critical thinking, and the ability to manage medical care plans effectively. You will be an essential link between the medical team and the family, ensuring seamless care delivery and education. The role is physically and emotionally demanding but incredibly rewarding, offering the chance to build strong relationships with patients and their families while making a tangible difference in their daily lives. This is a non-remote position requiring direct patient contact within the Centurion area.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor vital signs and the overall health status of pediatric patients.
• Provide specialized care, such as respiratory support, wound care, and feeding tube management.
• Educate families on managing their child's medical condition, including medication administration and emergency procedures.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting all care provided.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate intervention.
• Assess patient needs and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Advocate for the patient's needs within the healthcare system and family context.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid South African Nursing Council (SANC) license.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in pediatric nursing, with at least 1 year in a home care or critical care setting.
• Proven experience with ventilators, G-tubes, tracheostomies, and other medical equipment commonly used in pediatric care.
• Strong understanding of pediatric diseases and developmental stages.
• Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and regular health screenings.
• Reside within or be able to reliably commute to Centurion, Gauteng, ZA.
