Placements24 is seeking an experienced Pediatric Caregiver for overnight home-based care in Rustenburg, North West. The role focuses on children with complex medical needs, requiring strong clinical skills and independent night shift management.

The ideal candidate holds an RN or EN with SANC registration and at least 5 years in pediatric care, including ventilation/tracheostomy experience. BLS and PALS are required, with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN) with a valid South African Nursing Council (SANC) license.
• Minimum of 5 years of pediatric nursing or specialized pediatric caregiving.
• Proven experience with ventilators, tracheostomy care and complex medical equipment.
• Current BLS and PALS certifications.
• Ability to work independently in nocturnal shifts and document care accurately.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive overnight care for pediatric patients with varying medical conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and safely.
• Monitor vital signs, patient status, and respond promptly to changes or emergencies.
• Operate and maintain medical equipment such as ventilators, feeding pumps, and oxygen support systems.
• Assist patients with personal care needs, including hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the patient.
• Document all care provided, observations, and patient responses in detailed reports.
• Communicate effectively with the patient's family, physicians, and the healthcare team regarding patient status.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to the child during overnight hours.
• Follow strict infection control protocols.
