Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Pediatric Home Care Assistant in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role provides in-home support to children with chronic illnesses or disabilities, working with families and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality pediatric care.

Responsibilities include personal care, medication administration, mobility assistance, documenting care, and transporting to appointments.

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years in pediatric home care or pediatric nursing.
• Proficiency in administering medications and basic procedures.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Pass a comprehensive background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to pediatric patients in homes, including hygiene, feeding, and mobility assistance.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor vital signs as directed by healthcare professionals.
• Assist with therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation activities as guided by physiotherapists or occupational therapists.
• Monitor the child’s condition, recognizing and reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing supervisor or physician.
• Maintain a safe and clean home environment for the child.
• Educate and support families on managing the child’s care needs.
• Document all care provided, observations, and patient responses accurately.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to the child and their family.
• Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and relevant healthcare regulations.
• Transport children to medical appointments or therapy sessions as required.
