Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Payroll Specialist to manage Kimberley payroll operations in South Africa. You will ensure accurate, timely salaries, deductions, and benefits while complying with labor laws and tax regulations.

You will collaborate with HR and finance to maintain seamless payroll operations, supporting queries and ensuring precise reporting and GL postings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist.
• In-depth knowledge of South African payroll legislation, tax laws, and labor regulations.
• Proficiency with payroll software and HRIS.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll bi-weekly and monthly accurately.
• Manage employee data including new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation or benefits.
• Ensure correct calculation and deduction of taxes, UIF, SDL, and other statutory contributions.
• Prepare and submit payroll tax returns to SARS and other bodies.
• Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Reconcile payroll reports and ensure accuracy of general ledger postings.

About the Role

This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee salaries, deductions, and benefits in compliance with all relevant labor laws and tax regulations. You will be the go-to expert for payroll-related queries, working closely with HR and finance departments to maintain seamless payroll operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and efficiently for all employees on a bi-weekly/monthly basis.
• Manage employee data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation or benefits.
• Ensure correct calculation and deduction of taxes, UIF, SDL, and other statutory contributions.
• Prepare and submit payroll tax returns and other regulatory filings to SARS and other bodies.
• Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Reconcile payroll reports and ensure accuracy of general ledger postings related to payroll.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar payroll processing role.
• In-depth knowledge of South African payroll legislation, tax laws, and labor regulations.
• Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., VIP Payroll, Sage Payroll) and HRIS systems.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
