Job summary

Communicate Recruitment is seeking a seasoned payroll specialist in South Africa to manage end-to-end payroll for a large employee base. You will ensure accurate processing, timely submissions, and strict adherence to payroll policies.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and proficiency with Sage VIP or Sage 300 People, plus thorough knowledge of SA payroll legislation and compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in a payroll-focused role.
• Proven end-to-end payroll processing experience.
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Sage VIP, Sage 300 People, or similar.
• Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process monthly, weekly, and bi-weekly payroll accurately.
• Administer end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee base.
• Calculate salaries, overtime, shift allowances, leave pay, bonuses, and other earnings.
• Ensure accurate processing of deductions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, medical aid, pension, provident fund, garnishee orders).
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure information is up to date.
• Process appointments, terminations, transfers, promotions, and salary changes.
• Reconcile payroll transactions and payroll-related balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare payroll journals and assist with month-end reporting.
• Ensure compliance with labour and payroll legislation and company policies.
• Submit statutory returns and maintain supporting payroll documentation.

• Processing monthly, weekly, and bi-weekly payroll accurately and within prescribed deadlines
• Administering end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee complement
• Calculating salaries, wages, overtime, shift allowances, leave pay, bonuses, and other earnings
• Ensuring accurate processing of deductions, including PAYE, UIF, SDL, medical aid, pension, provident fund, garnishee orders, and other statutory requirements
• Maintaining employee payroll records and ensure all information is accurate and up to date
• Processing employee appointments, terminations, transfers, promotions, salary increases, and other payroll-related changes
• Reconciling payroll transactions and payroll-related balance sheet accounts
• Preparing payroll journals and assist with month-end reporting requirements
• Ensuring compliance with relevant labour legislation, payroll legislation, and company policies
• Submitting statutory returns and maintain supporting payroll documentation
