Job summary

Netcare is seeking a Switchboard Operator to manage a high volume of calls in a courteous, professional manner. You will direct calls to departments, doctors, or wards and provide concise information about hospital services, visiting hours, and procedures.

Requirements include 1–2 years in a similar role, Grade 12/NQF4, basic computer skills, and a commitment to patient confidentiality under POPIA. On-site role supporting clinical and administrative teams.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• 1–2 years' experience in a similar switchboard or customer service role.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming calls and telephone etiquette.
• Direct calls to the appropriate departments, doctors, or wards.
• Provide basic information about hospital services, directions, and policies.
• Take and deliver messages when staff are unavailable.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy in line with POPIA.
• Support administrative tasks and update relevant lists as needed.
