Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Childminder & Early Development Facilitator in Durban for a part-time role. You will provide nurturing care, plan engaging activities, and support early learning in a home-based or small group setting.

You will observe development milestones, promote cognitive, social, and emotional growth, maintain a safe environment, and communicate regularly with parents about progress and routines, adapting activities to each child’s needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in childcare or as a childminder.
• Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate activities.
• Excellent observational and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• First Aid certificate is required or ability to obtain it.
• A clean criminal record check.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for children from infancy to school-age, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Plan and implement indoor and outdoor activities including arts, music, reading, and sensory play.
• Foster a positive environment supporting emotional and social development.
• Assist with daily routines such as feeding, hygiene and napping.
• Prepare healthy snacks and light meals for children.
• Observe progress and share feedback with parents as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, child-friendly space.
• Ensure health, safety and regulatory compliance for childcare providers.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding child activities and well-being.
