Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of a key power generation facility in Richards Bay. You will lead a team of operators and technicians, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable plant performance while meeting energy targets.

You will manage shift schedules, drive continuous improvement, enforce safety and environmental compliance, and coordinate with maintenance.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Excellent knowledge of industrial safety standards and environmental compliance.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a high pressure operational environment.

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of plant operators and maintenance technicians to ensure continuous and safe operations.
• Monitor plant performance metrics, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and operational protocols.
• Manage shift schedules, personnel assignments, and training requirements for the operations team.
• Oversee the execution of routine maintenance and inspections, coordinating with the maintenance department.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis, implementing preventive measures.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of a key power generation facility in Richards Bay. This role is vital for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the plant, meeting energy output targets and maintaining compliance with all environmental and safety regulations. You will lead a team of operators and technicians, providing guidance and support to optimize performance and troubleshoot operational issues. This is a hands-on leadership position critical to our energy production capabilities in KwaZulu-Natal.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of plant operators and maintenance technicians to ensure continuous and safe operations.
• Monitor plant performance metrics, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and operational protocols.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent operational experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong understanding of power generation processes, equipment, and control systems.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a high-pressure operational environment.
• Excellent knowledge of industrial safety standards and environmental compliance.
• Proficiency in using SCADA systems and other plant operational software.
