Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of a major power plant in Vereeniging. You will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant generation while leading a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of a key power plant facility in Vereeniging . This leadership position is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable generation of electricity. You will manage all aspects of plant operations, including personnel management, budget control, compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize the day-to-day operations of the power plant to meet generation targets and efficiency goals.
• Ensure strict adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Develop and manage the plant's operational budget, controlling costs and resource allocation.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance.
• Oversee the maintenance planning and execution to ensure plant reliability and minimize downtime.
• Implement continuous improvement programs to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical) or a related field; MBA or relevant management qualification is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Proven experience in managing complex operational budgets and P&L responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of power generation processes, equipment, and maintenance strategies.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of South African energy regulations and environmental legislation.
