About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and responsible Power Plant Operator to manage the day-to-day operations of their facility in Benoni . This critical role involves monitoring and controlling power generation equipment, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with environmental regulations. You will be responsible for starting up, shutting down, and maintaining various plant systems, responding to operational changes, and performing routine checks and adjustments. This hands-on position requires a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment to maintain a stable power supply.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor power generation equipment, including turbines, boilers, generators, and control systems.
• Ensure the efficient and safe operation of the plant, adhering to all operational procedures and safety protocols.
• Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of plant equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
• Respond promptly to alarms and operational upsets, diagnosing issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate logs of operational data, incidents, and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with maintenance technicians and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve complex operational problems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a technical certificate or diploma in power plant operations or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a power plant operator or in a similar industrial operations role.
• Proficiency in operating and monitoring industrial control systems (e.g., SCADA).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment relevant to power generation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail.
